Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) as well as Chris Watson (born in Paris). Her family was moved to Oxfordshire when she was five which is where she went to at the Dragon School. Emma was just six when she decided she wanted to be an actor. After eight continuous auditions, the producer David Heyman told Emma and other applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been cast to play three of the leads Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's first film on the screen in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, released in 2001. It broke all records in beginning-day and weekend-opening sales and also was the highest-grossing production in the year 2001. The film was praised by critics and its performances by the three leading young actors. The Daily Telegraph, an influential British paper, called Emma's portrayal "amazing". Emma was awarded the Young Artist Award as the Leading Young Actress for part of a feature Film. The actress was recognized five times in recognition of her performance in the film.
